"scanner bulb warming up" fix the hp scanner/fax 3300/3330 error
when power on, it display "scanner bulb warming up" then stop response with an error. this is quite common amount hp33xx series all in one printer.
it was cause by the scan head unable to receive the scanned light, either clean the head or replace a new scan module can fix this problem. the module is the one that move under the glass while scanning.
HP has announced some promotion to replace it by other printer model, its good, because even if you replaced a new scan module, it will not work for a long time. so the best way is replace the entire printer/scanner.
the light reflect lens in the scan head is very easy to be get dirtied so it display above error and stop work. its easy to fix it by clean the scan head. but it not easy to reach the scan head, you may need half an hour to disassemble the all in one scanner.
here are some steps.
1. remove the cover by unplug 2 blot between them.
2. release the side board by push the button on the right side.
3. remove 2 side board by release 2 screws and back board screws.
4. remove back board.
5. now its time to separate the printer part and scan/fax part by release the screws between them, also remove the cable between them.
6. push forward the scan/fax component so that it separate from the printer.
7. its time to disassemble the scan/fax component
8. release the screw beside the scan board, take off the glass board for cleaning.
9. take off the side board then the keyboard, remember to unplug the wire.
10. remove the glass, now you can clean the lens inside the scan component. there are 4 lenses.
i did above cleaning 2 time, but not work for longer than half a year. replaced a new head, which worked for 14 month. later i bought a new model to replace it.
